Its another fine day in Madrid and a trip to Toledo was on the cards. So off to the Atocha train station to get the tickets (make sure you get there with plenty of time in hand. We have missed out on 2 trains so far with queuing and the ticket machines not working). To play it safe buy on line at the www.renfe.com. It cost us for 2 people return 40 euros. After an hour wait for the next train it was a 30min fast train ride to Toledo.
Toledo is one of the Spanish cities with the greatest wealth of monuments. Known as the "city of the three cultures", because Christians, Arabs and Jews lived together there for centuries and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1986. The city is said to have been populated since the Bronze Age.
After a short 10min walk from the train station you arrive at the bridge and gates to the city. Once you enter you can get lost in this historical world wandering the narrow streets and alley ways trying to make it to the next mosque, synagogue or church.

There is so much to do in Toledo you really need 2 days. We tried to do it in 7 hours and missed out on a lot, even the Cathedral was closed by the time we got to it.
To sum it all up it is a place you have to go.
