Segovia

We have hired a car in Madrid for a week and are heading to Galicia for the Albarino festival in Cambados. So the fist stop is - Real Sito De La Granja De San Ildefonso (try saying that after a few drinks). The only reason we found out about this place was in a small leaflet in Madrid. You don't see it advertised much and It's only 11km from Segovia so you could catch a bus from there if you have the time.

The Gardens

In 1721 the palace was built for King Philip V and he ordered a huge garden to be made with water fountains  and sculptures scatted throughout. It is a great walk on a sunny day and good place to get away from the hussl and bussl of Madrid. The garden is free, but you can also take a true of the palace for a fee. The town next to it is small and has places to stay and bars for eating the local food.

Roman Aqueduct
Next stop Segovia just down the road and the fist thing that you run into is the Roman Aqueduct for witch the place is famous for, and now I can see why. After getting over the size of the Aqueduct we headed up the hill to find the towns hidden secrets, or you can follow the hundreds of tourist. When inside the walled city, you will find the Segovia cathedral in the centre of town and also the Alcaza de Segovia (you can visit both for a fee) witch stands at the Western side of the city like something out of a fairy tale book. There are too many things to see and do to put down on paper, so the best thing is go and see for yourself.

Alcaza de Segovia
We found the city to be very beautiful and worth a couple of days of your time.
